From Day One, Family

Who We Are

We're James and Laura, and in 2024 we founded Pawdys together, right here in Manchester. No big agency behind us, no corporate backing, no huge investment to fall back on. Just two passionate dog owners who wanted the best for their dog and eventually decided to build it themselves. Today we're a small, family-run business with a team of seven — every one of us a dog owner, and every one of us all in.

Our Story

At Pawdys, everything comes back to what really matters: the wellbeing of our four-legged heroes.

Because to us, dogs aren't just pets — they're family, best friends, and a permanent part of our lives. We know exactly what it feels like to be greeted by a wagging tail first thing in the morning — those small moments are what make everyday life better.

When our second son, Liam, was born, a lot changed all over again. You'd think you'd know the feeling by then, but it hits you fresh every time. That heightened awareness. That instinct to get everything right — not just okay, but truly the best for the people you love.

Not long after, our Labrador Bruno joined the family, and from day one it was clear: he was simply one of us, just like another child. Not "the dog in the house" — but the one wagging his tail first every morning, the one lying beside the sofa every evening, the one who somehow always knew when something wasn't quite right. We felt the same warmth for him that we felt for our children — and with it, the same sense of responsibility.

We wanted the same thing for him that we wanted for our kids: only the best.

So we started looking closer. And what we found was that a lot of what's sold in pet shops sounds great — but doesn't actually hold up. We bought a harness labelled "dog-friendly" on the packaging. Bruno wore it, but never really accepted it. He wriggled, he pulled, he showed us in his own quiet way: this isn't right.

We bought a "no-pull" harness with glowing reviews, yet on walks he'd still drag us along at full force — and the material rubbed him raw at the shoulders.

Dogs don't lie. They show you exactly what's working and what isn't. You just have to learn to actually look.

So we did. We stopped buying blindly and started understanding what was genuinely missing. We saw which products were unnecessarily complicated, and where real quality was lacking. So we teamed up with vets and dog trainers, rethought products from the ground up, tested, scrapped ideas, and started again. Not until we were satisfied — but until Bruno showed us: this is right, and it actually works.

Until he lay down on the mat on his own. Until he wore the harness like it had always been that way. Until we saw that look — content, happy, and settled.

That's the exact look we built Pawdys for.
