How does the built-in harness work?
How does the built-in harness work?
Most coats weren't made for dogs who wear a harness. Put the harness over the coat and it squashes the lining and rubs. Put it underneath and the lead hole never lines up with the D-ring – and that's exactly where the rain gets in.
With the All-Weather Harness Coat, the harness is built right into the coat. Step in, zip up along the back, clip the lead onto the ring. One layer, one clip – nothing to line up, nothing to slip.
✅ No separate harness needed
✅ No harness hole letting the rain in
✅ On in seconds, even in the dark

Is it worth the money?
Is it worth the money?
Most owners end up buying two things for every wet walk:
✗ A decent waterproof coat – around £35
✗ A decent harness – around £35
✗ A pile of towels, and the time it takes to dry him – every single walk
✓ The All-Weather Harness Coat – coat and harness in one, from £34.99
And if it's not right for your dog, you're covered by our 60-day money-back guarantee.
What makes it different from other dog coats?
What makes it different from other dog coats?
Most coats only protect your dog from the rain above. But most of the wet actually comes from below – long grass, puddles and mud splashing up onto his belly.
That's why the All-Weather Harness Coat has a belly shield and a built-in harness: his back, sides and tummy stay covered, and you only have one thing to put on. Warm fleece inside, a high collar and reflective details for dark evening walks.

Size Guide – Harness Coat

Real dogs. Real muddy walks.
Why your dog still comes home soaked.
It's not the rain. It's the grass – and a coat that's fighting his harness.
✗ Harness on top squashes the coat
✗ Harness underneath: the lead hole lets the rain in
✗ Most coats stop at the belly – where the wet comes from
✗ Two things to put on, every single walk
The problem isn't the weather. It's two layers that were never made for each other.
One layer. One clip. Dry underneath.
The harness is built into the coat – nothing to line up, slip or leak.
Warm and dry underneath.
✅ Harness built in – step in, zip up, clip on
✅ Belly shield – no more soggy tummy
✅ Water-resistant shell – rain rolls right off
✅ Fleece-lined – snug on cold walks
Coat off, paws wiped, done.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this really keep my dog drier than his old coat?
That's exactly what it's built for. Most coats only cover the back, so your dog still comes home with a soaking wet belly from long grass and puddles. The belly shield covers his tummy, and because the harness is built in, there's no harness hole for the rain to get through.
Does my dog actually need a coat?
Not every dog does – and we'll be honest about that. Thick double-coated breeds are usually fine. But short-coated, small, slim, older and young dogs feel the cold much more – think whippets, greyhounds, dachshunds, Staffies, Frenchies and freshly groomed doodles. As a rough guide, they start to feel it below about 13°C, and wind and rain make it feel much colder. If he shivers the moment you stop walking, he'll thank you for it.
Won't he overheat?
It's made for cold, wet and windy walks, not warm days or long runs. On mild days or for very active, thick-coated dogs, leave it at home.
Is the built-in harness strong enough?
The lead clips onto a sturdy metal D-ring, and the harness straps run through the coat so the pull is spread across the chest – not the neck. Please note: it's a back-clip harness. If your dog pulls hard, pair your walks with our PullStop No-Pull Harness.
What size does my dog need?
Measure his chest just behind the front legs and his back from the base of the neck to the base of the tail – you'll find the size guide right above the size selector. Between sizes? Always go a size up. And if it still doesn't fit, we'll exchange it for free.
Can I wash it?
Yes – pop it in the washing machine on a gentle 30°C cycle and let it air-dry. Many owners get two, so one's always dry and ready to go.
Can my dog wriggle out of it?
There's no Velcro to give way. The back zip and adjustable chest and neck straps keep it securely in place, so you're never left holding the lead and an empty coat.
Is it easy to put on?
Yes – no legs to thread through sleeves. Step in, zip up along the back, clip the lead on. Takes seconds, even with a wriggly dog or an older dog with stiff joints.
Can he wear it all day?
It's designed for walks. Like any harness, take it off when you're back home so his coat and skin can breathe.
How do returns work?
Simple – send it back within 60 days and get your money back, no small print. Wrong size? Easy exchange, no questions asked.
Just email us at support@pawdys.co.uk to get started.
Can I use it in the car?
Yes – the D-ring on the built-in harness can be used with a car seatbelt clip or dog car restraint, so you can clip him in straight after the walk without changing anything.

Fits our awkward little dog better than anything we've tried lately. 🙂
My Frenchie has two talents: finding mud and growing enough feathering to bring half the field home. I bought this for the belly coverage more than anything else. After going through long wet grass on the morning loop, I only needed to rinse the paws and ends of the legs. Not spotless, not magic, just massively easier.
Yesterday was the first proper test. It had been raining all morning and the evening walk was a swamp. Normally our lurcher comes through the door, shakes muddy water up the wall and then we spend ten minutes with towels. This time the paws and lower legs were filthy but the body and belly were far better. I made a cup of tea instead of starting a laundry load, which felt like a result.
Once we'd swapped the size, I was very happy with it. The first one was too tight through the chest despite my measuring. The new one sits well and has already saved us a fair bit of drying.
Not usually one for leaving reviews, but this has been useful. My rescue gets absolutely plastered underneath in wet grass. The legs still need a wipe, obviously, but his chest and belly are much cleaner.
Had one of those walks where the rain starts halfway round and everyone looks miserable. The coat took the worst of it, the harness stayed put and when we got home I wasn't drying his whole body from scratch. He got a biscuit, I got a coffee, nobody argued with a pile of damp towels. Success.
Our mongrel is long in the back and usually ends up with a coat halfway to his tail. This one covers him much better once adjusted. We've used it in three days of rain and he's come back warm and considerably less soggy.
My old spaniel is getting stiff and has become very clear about what he thinks of being dressed. The old coat involved lifting feet and lots of bribery. This one is much kinder to both of us: on over the back, zip, lead on. He toddled round the school run quite happily and came home warm. I'm pleased I tried it.
My greyhound has two talents: finding mud and growing enough feathering to bring half the field home. I bought this for the belly coverage more than anything else. After going through long wet grass on the common, I only needed to rinse the paws and ends of the legs. Not spotless, not magic, just massively easier.

No Velcro, no separate harness, no drama. Marvellous.
Nice coat, slightly roomy at the neck on our skinny lad. 🙂
Dog needed two or three walks to stop acting personally offended by it 😅 x
I wanted this mostly for an older dog who doesn't enjoy having his legs manipulated. In that respect it's excellent. The only thing I would change is the sizing around the neck for very slim dogs; ours has a bit more room there than I'd like. Otherwise it has been warm, practical and easy to use. x
I wanted to love it, but our very narrow dog is an awkward shape and I can't get the chest quite as neat as I'd like. It still keeps him warmer and cleaner, so we're using it.
I like the design and the all-in-one part genuinely makes mornings easier. The only niggle is the zip, which was quite stiff when new. It has loosened up with use.
I bought it mainly because I was sick of the harness-over-coat arrangement. Used it on the fields in proper rain and it was so much simpler. The lead clips straight on and nothing bunches up underneath.
My terrier spent the first day walking like I'd betrayed him. By walk three he had completely forgotten about the coat and was back to dragging me towards every interesting smell. It is quick to put on and saves using a separate harness. One star off purely because the initial adjustment was more fiddly than I expected.

Useful on wet grass and much less messy when we get home. It took me longer than expected to adjust the straps properly, but once done I haven't had to touch them again.
The first thing I noticed wasn't the warmth, it was how quickly we got out of the house. No hunting for straps or lining up a tiny hole. Our Jack Russell seems comfortable and can run/sniff normally.
